I believe that relationships are one of the keys to a life of fulfillment. I chose family medicine for that very reason. It is a privilege getting to know my patients as I care for them in the office and in the hospital. Those relationships enrich my life and make for an enjoyable day at “work.” However, they also allow me to provide the individualized, well-rounded care that my patients need. Knowing their history, family dynamics, responses to past treatment and just who they are as a person allows me to provide the right care for them.
As I develop these relationships with my patients, I hope they join our team ready to take charge of their health care. My goal is to support and empower them in caring for themselves, educate them in their care, and provide adequate information for them to make well-informed decisions, so they leave feeling confident and strong in caring for themselves.
I believe society is as healthy and strong as the family and the individuals in it. If I can help my patients care for themselves so they can care for their families and contribute in some way to their community, then I have done my small part and helped them do theirs.
