When technology stood in the way of a patient and her provider, Heather Gregory made sure the two connected. That was among the reasons Heather, clinic patient access representative, was nominated by the Blessing Health System Neurosurgery team and won the 86th Honey Bee Award. The award recognizes service provided by support staff that contributes to an exceptional patient experience and enhances the work environment.
The nomination submitted on Heather’s behalf read, in part: “Dr. Brian Anderson offers telehealth to several of his patients when he is not in the office. Heather gets these patients set up for telehealth by helping them get the app on their phone, if they don’t already have it, and she also sends them the link the day of the appointment. If there is an issue, Heather immediately gets them on the phone to let them know she is working on the situation.
Heather had a patient that could not get the link the day she had a telehealth appointment with Dr. Anderson, so her appointment had to be cancelled. However, since the patient lived nearby, Heather asked if it was convenient for her to come to the office so Heather could look at the patient’s phone. The patient did.
Heather made some updates to the patient’s phone and tested to make sure she could receive the link. It worked. Heather then asked Dr. Anderson if he could reschedule the telehealth visit for this patient. He was available, so the patient got her appointment. The patient called Heather so happy she was almost crying, saying she wanted to ‘thank Heather for all her help.’
Not only is Heather our superhero for all that she does, she is the most outstanding person in general - kind to everyone and goes the extra mile to ensure our patients are taken care of.”
Congratulations, Heather, and thank you for your exceptional service to Blessing Health System patients.
