Some make an impact through a single act of service. Others make a difference every day through hundreds of small actions that help those around them succeed. For Charla Martin, that commitment to supporting others has earned her Blessing Health System's ICARE Award for Excellence.

As Manager of Application Software in Information Systems, Charla is known as someone who is always willing to lend a hand, answer a question, or help solve a problem. Her nomination describes her as a constant source of support, one that began on the nominator’s first day in the department.

From the onset, Charla was "warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in helping me feel supported," noted the nominator. “Over time, she became my trusted ‘go-to’ person whenever guidance was needed.”

That willingness to help was on full display during Blessing’s recent implementation of the Epic platform. When technical issues prevented several employees from accessing a certain training, frustration quickly began to build. Although the problem wasn't part of her role, Charla immediately stepped in and stepped up.

"Without hesitation, she stepped in, answered every question, and got the employees back on track," the nomination states. The quick response allowed the class to stay on schedule and helped restore confidence among the group.

While moments like these stand out, the nomination highlights that much of Charla's impact happens behind the scenes. Throughout the Epic project, Charla coordinated employee travel, created detailed reimbursement guides, and helped ensure coworkers had the resources they needed to navigate a complex transition successfully. Those actions helped improve efficiency, reduce confusion, and help countless employees focus on the task at hand.

As the organization prepared for Epic “go-live,” Charla demonstrated just how deeply invested she is in the success of her team. According to the nomination, she postponed her annual vacation to remain available during the critical implementation period, putting the needs of the organization ahead of her own plans.

For her nominator, however, Charla's impact goes beyond projects, processes, or problem-solving.

"She is trusted, respected, and deeply valued," the nomination shares. "On a personal note, Charla is one of the reasons I love my job as much as I do. I am truly grateful to work alongside her every day."

Blessing Health System congratulates Charla Martin on receiving the ICARE Award for Excellence. Charla's dedication reminds us that excellence is often found in the people who make everyone around them better.
