Blessing Cancer Center Raises Awareness of Cervical Cancer Prevention

January is National Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. The Blessing Cancer Center is focused on effective treatment, early detection, and prevention of cancer. In honor of this awareness month, the Cancer Center encourages parents to speak with their family’s healthcare provider about the cancer-preventing vaccination against the human papilloma virus (HPV).

Blessing participates in new cancer treatment trial

The Blessing Cancer Center has been selected as one of 51 study locations worldwide participating in a new metastatic breast cancer clinical trial. Metastatic cancer has traveled to other parts of the body from its site of origination. It is estimated that 20-30 percent of all breast cancer cases will become metastatic. The clinical trial is studying the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of a first-of-its-kind medication, Enobosarm.

Radiation Therapist Earns Who’s Your Angel Award

Valerie Satterthwaite, Haley Miller Pilkington, and Megan Hale, all Radiation Therapists, Blessing Hospital Radiation Therapy Department, received a Who’s Your Angel nomination from patient Mr. Lindsey Parrish. The Foundation Office presented the Who’s Your Angel award on September 25.
