Claire Thomas, Cardiovascular Unit, received the health system’s 82nd Honey Bee award during a recent ceremony. The Honey Bee award recognizes the service provided by support staff that contribute to an exceptional patient experience and enhance the work environment.

The surgical nurse who nominated Claire wrote, “I was taking a patient to her room. As I wheeled the patient down the hall, a smiling CNA was walking towards us. She welcomed us and immediately greeted the patient by name! Claire had not met this patient previously, but had taken the time to learn her name before arrival. It was the perfect start to the patient’s post-op care.
Claire immediately began taking care of the patient and assisting me in getting the patient into the room. She made it obvious that she considered this to be "her" patient. She was taking control and ensuring everything was done right. It made an amazing first impression on the patient. After having worked here for many years, it also made an impression on me.
Claire, I hope you will continue your education and stay in healthcare at Blessing. We need more of you!”
