Gretchen Mason of Blessing’s Lauretta M. Eno Early Learning Center has been named the latest recipient of the Honey Bee Award, an honor recognizing staff members who consistently go above and beyond in service to patients, families, coworkers, and the community.
Mason was nominated by a parent who described her as "the glue that holds the Early Learning Center together" and praised her unwavering commitment to the children and families she serves. According to the nomination, Gretchen's dedication is evident in every aspect of her work, from knowing each child personally to helping families navigate questions, challenges, and daily needs.
One example shared in the nomination highlighted Gretchen's willingness to go the extra mile when a parent was running late. Understanding the situation, she helped ensure a school bus waited so the child could still make it to school, easing stress for the family and providing much-needed support during a busy morning.
The nomination also shared that Gretchen is a trusted resource for families, always ready to answer questions and offer guidance. Her knowledge, dependability, and genuine care have made her an invaluable part of the Early Learning Center and a source of reassurance for parents.
"I know my child is safe and well taken care of when Gretchen is there," the nominator wrote. "We need more people like Gretchen."
Through her compassion, commitment, and willingness to put the needs of children and families first, Mason exemplifies the qualities celebrated by the Honey Bee Award and the values of Blessing Health System.
