Every birth is special, thanks in large part to the quality of care and sincere compassion delivered by the Blessed Beginnings team. An area family, who had six previous babies at Blessing, said each of their experiences at the birth center felt even more special than the one before it. That moved them, after the recent birth of their seventh child, to write and submit a winning DAISY Team award nomination for Blessed Beginnings, stating that they were “deeply moved by the level of compassion and professionalism demonstrated by the entire team.”
“My wife felt safe, supported, and exceptionally well cared for throughout our experience,” the father wrote in the nomination. “I also noticed that whenever I saw a badge with “RN,” I felt an immediate sense of calm and trust.”
The nomination highlighted a moment in particular, after the baby’s birth, that is forever etched into the collective heart and mind of the husband and his wife. It began with a Blessed Beginnings staff member gathering information from the couple for the child’s birth certificate.
“During the conversation, she noted that we had experienced a miscarriage—something that remains a deeply painful memory for both of us. She compassionately shared that she had experienced a similar loss and took the time to listen, offer support, and hold space for our emotions,” the nomination stated. “That connection meant a great deal to our family and is something we will never forget.”
The parents say they were, “incredibly impressed by the confidence, expertise, and compassion of the Blessed Beginnings staff,” and that those qualities made this important milestone in their lives - the birth of the family’s seventh and final child - an incredibly meaningful and positive experience.
“Their kindness, professionalism, and compassion will remain with our family for years to come,” the nomination concluded.

The DAISY Award is an international honor created in 1999 by the DAISY Foundation to recognize nurses for extraordinary compassionate care. DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program to honor his memory.
