To celebrate the conclusion of her treatment for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Blessing Cancer Center patient Wendy Walker will soon be taking a trip to Lake of the Ozarks to see a special friend.

“I'd like to go check on the baby sloth that I met before all this started, at Sunrise Beach Safari in Sunrise Beach Missouri, where I got to hold all the baby animals at the safari including my beautiful baby sloth,” she said.

And while in the area, Wendy will take her husband, Donnie, on a Lake Ozark Helicopters tour of Bagnell Dam to thank him for all he has done during her cancer journey.

“Donnie has been by my side every step of the way - every test and every chemo treatment,” Wendy exclaimed.

A $500 gift from the Quincy University Women’s Basketball Hawks “Creating Memories Fund” is allowing Wendy to make this special return visit to the Lake of the Ozarks. The team raises money during the basketball season for the Creating Memories fund to help cancer patients enjoy a special event of their choosing. Patients are selected based on nominations reviewed by Blessing Cancer Center staff and The Blessing Foundation.
