Blessing Hospital Emergency Center nurse Rachel Jones became the health system’s 111th DAISY Award winner during a recent ceremony recognizing her extraordinary nursing care.

Rachel was nominated by a Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences student who was paired with her for the student’s clinical day. The student wrote, “Rachel went above and beyond to provide me with clinical skill experience throughout our day. Despite the challenges thrown her way, she maintained a calm and kind presence, encouraging me to try new skills, even though it took longer.
Throughout our day, Rachel embodied ICARE Standards and Blessing Hospital Policy by holding her nursing standards to the very highest level.
Rachel was very informative with all her patients and met them with no judgment and a pure heart. The ER is blessed to have Rachel as a nurse.”
DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of a 33-year-old man, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program in 1999 to honor his memory. More than 5,400 healthcare providers and nursing education programs worldwide participate in the DAISY Award program.
Patients and their family members, visitors, doctors, hospital staff members or volunteers may recognize the extraordinary care provided by nurses through a DAISY award nomination.
