Cindy Cassens, CMA (certified medical assistant), manager, East Adams County Rural Health Clinic in Golden, retires on August 1, upon completing 34 years of service.

“I feel very honored to have been a part of East Adams Clinic since it started back in 1991, through the collaboration of St. Mary and Blessing Hospitals, and Southern Illinois University Medicine – Center for Family Medicine and Dr. Debra Phillips. I have enjoyed my career at the clinic and will miss our patients the most,” she said.
A graduate of Unity High School, Cindy received her medical assistant education at Robert Morris College in Carthage. Prior to joining the East Adams County Rural Health Clinic, she worked for the late obstetrician-gynecologist Michael Shih, MD, for 10 years.
In addition to her career, Cindy volunteered as an emergency medical technician and currently serves as Golden Good Shepherd Nursing Home Board President.
A Camp Point resident, she has been married to husband Eric for 44 years. They are members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden. Cindy and Eric have a daughter Erica (husband Nate) Hilgenbrinck, son Justin (wife Kristen) Cassens, and grandchildren Ian and Ava Hilgenbrinck and Jackson and Brooklyn Cassens.
