Sophia Bichsel, RN, Blessed Beginnings, became the 95th Blessing Hospital nurse to receive the international DAISY award for her extraordinary nursing care during a ceremony on April 24, 2024.

Learning you have a medical condition can be stressful. Believing you have to go out of town to receive the care you need – putting your life into the hands of a doctor and staff you don’t know at an unfamiliar hospital, away from your regular support system of family and friends – adds to that stress. Not to mention the hours on the road and precious days of care lost in-between appointments.
 

John Gallaher, EKG tech, Non-Invasive Cardiology, Blessing Hospital, earned the hospital’s 67th Honey Bee award during a surprise presentation on April 19. The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.

Blair Powell, RN, Centralized Staffing, received a Who’s Your Angel nomination from Emily Sutton, a patient’s mother. The Foundation Office presented the Who’s Your Angel award on April 11.  

Blessing Health orthopedic surgeon Dr. Darr Leutz is using new technology to replace worn out knees. He is very excited about the results it is delivering for his patients.

Brooke Flesner, MRI Technologist, Blessing Hospital Radiology, received a Who’s Your Angel nomination from patient Jessica Rockhold. The Foundation Office presented the Who’s Your Angel award on April 3.  

Michelle Smith, RN, Emergency Center, became the 94th Blessing Hospital nurse to receive the international DAISY award for her extraordinary nursing care during a ceremony on March 29, 2024.

Clarence Braxton, Environmental Services, earned Blessing Hospital’s 66th Honey Bee award during a surprise presentation on March 20. The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.

Registration is open for the 14th annual “Strike Out Breast Cancer” at Tangerine Bowl in Quincy to benefit patients of the Blessing Breast Center. The event will take place over two days: Friday, April 26 at 7 pm, and Saturday, April 27, with three sessions to choose from at Noon, 3 and 6:30 pm. 

In recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Blessing Health is providing free, take-home colorectal cancer screening kits to the public at locations in west central Illinois and northeast Missouri, and by mail. The kits are available from Monday, March 18 and while supplies last.
