What should a prostate cancer screening include and when should screening begin?
Some providers do a blood test called a Prostate Specific Antigen test only (PSA). If a man’s PSA level trends up over time, it could be an indication of prostate cancer. Other providers order a PSA test and conduct a digital rectal exam (DRE). Blessing Health board-certified urologist William Severino, feels both tests deliver the most complete picture.

Three weeks into retirement from a job she held for 31 years, 62-year-old Pam Porter decided she needed to get back to work. So, Pam got a new job – actually two of them. She was hired to do patient registration for Blessing Health orthopedic surgeon Dr. Barry Werries. And her other job? “I am like a walking billboard for Dr. Werries.”

Remembering Meleah
Meleah Flynn’s husband and three daughters recently stopped by Blessing Hospital to see her name, which had been added to the memorial wall in the Blessing Cancer Center for donations received in her memory. Meleah passed away July 7, 2021, at the age of 54 after a two-year battle with stage 4 colon cancer.

Illini Community Hospital breaks ground for new walk-in clinic
Illini Community Hospital will break ground April 21 at 9 am for a $1.6 million project on its Pittsfield, Illinois, campus that will create a new Illini Express Clinic. The project is expected to be completed by December of 2023.
