First COVID-19 Related Death at Blessing Hospital

Today, Sunday, April 19, the first death of an area resident who died of medical conditions complicated by COVID-19 occurred at Blessing Hospital. The individual is a resident of Lewis County, MO and a person in their 80’s to 90’s.

State-of-the-art testing system now online in Blessing Hospital Laboratory

Blessing Hospital has purchased and installed a “BioFire®” testing system in its laboratory. BioFire® allows for in-house testing of twenty-one common viral and bacterial respiratory pathogens in less than an hour. The BioFire® platform has received FDA approval for COVID-19 testing and Blessing Hospital Laboratory will implement the test immediately upon receipt of the test kits from the company.

New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Adams County, Illinois

On April 28, 2020 the Adams County Health Department announces six new cases of COVID-19 in Adams County. We are also removing one previously reported case, whose residency was determined to be out of our jurisdiction. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 39.
