The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released its latest ratings of the 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals across the country. The rating program is called Hospital Compare. Blessing Hospital earned a rating of four out of five stars.

Chief Operating Officer joins Blessing Health System

Brian Canfield, MHA, MBA, MA, has joined Blessing Health System as Chief Operating Officer (COO). He joins Blessing after nine years as COO at Firsthealth of The Carolinas and Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, North Carolina, where he was responsible for three acute care hospitals totaling 509 beds, a critical access hospital, and a staff of 4,500 employees and 950 volunteers.

Control of Keokuk Area Hospital in southeast Iowa will be transferred from current parent company, UnityPoint Health of West Des Moines, Iowa, to Blessing Health System of Quincy, Illinois, effective March 1.
